    Description

    Edison Cylinder Phonograph
    45 Degree Horn Elbow Adapter
With this elbow you can use a cygnet type horn with the common carriage on your. You can also use it with a horizontal carriage to allow the use of of common horns mounted on cranes. These are parts that I nickel plate in my shop.
The collar portion of the base facilitates swiveling of the joint. Without some means of swiveling, a rubber tube tends to apply pressure to the reproducer which can keep the carriage from moving freely resulting in poor tracking and skipping of the cylinder during play as well as cause abnormal wear to the half nut and feed screw. The nickel plated tube is machined with an inside diameter that accurately fits over the neck of like an Edison reproducer. It facilitates a good seal but also allows it to rotate on the neck of the reproducer as the carriage moves. The swiveling action ensures that the carriage does not bind the half nut on the feed screw during play. This is a simple design that I based on an original patent. It's an old and simple idea, but a very beneficial one.
