Wellington based- singer-songwriter Charlotte Yates brings together some of New Zealand’s most talented musicians to create a unique concert Mansfield in Her Own Words.
In this episode Yates explains her fascination with Mansfield.
She chooses poems for composers and performers including William Ricketts and Brooke Singer.
We film Ricketts reflecting on Mansfield’s poem, A Sunset on a Wellington beach and Singer’s poignant rendition of A Wounded Bird.
Both poems foreshadow Katherine Mansfield’s early death. Brooke Singer is 34, the same age as Mansfield when she died.
